Welcome to our “Jolt of Joy” newsletter. Last month, Kuddlz shared about filling your cup with self-love. This month we are focusing on the theme of JOY. If you choose to see everything through a lens of joy and gratitude, you will realize the blessings that come with it. So, let’s choose JOY with the Joyblz!
“Choose JOY” has become one of my daily mantras. I know that life can be hard, but everyday I have a choice: I can let things bring me down or I can choose JOY and be grateful for all that I have. I want to share with you a fun creative exercise where I make a JOY pie consisting of things that bring me JOY. Continue reading to learn about ways to choose JOY and how to make your own JOY pie…
Ways to Choose JOY
- Take a walk outside
- Practice self-care
- Make time to play, laugh, and create
- Surround yourself with joyful people
- Cultivate a daily gratitude practice
- Find JOY in the journey
- Choose to embrace imperfection
- Choose to live in the present moment
Creating a JOY Pie (i.e., JOY List)
I encourage you to make a list of items that bring you JOY. If you know what feeds your soul, you can schedule some time into every week to guarantee moments of joy. In addition to writing down all the things that bring you joy in list form, why not also create a joy pie. Grab a pen, crayons, or markers. Take a piece of paper and draw a circle and then make lines in the circle so that you have pie slices. You can make as many slices as you like in your pie. Then write down one thing that brings you joy in each slice. Here’s a JOY pie that I drew on my iPad:

I hope that you had fun creating your own JOY pie.
Here’s a challenge for you: Why not do three things per day which bring you joy?
JOY is a choice
Sometimes joy is a matter of perspective. It’s reaching down and being grateful for it all, the mess, the euphoria, the triumphs, and the tragedies. Joy is a choice.
‘Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.’
~ Henri J.M. Nouwen

I usually prefer cake over pie but I can get behind a joy pie:-)
